Asia Argento was raised in Rome by a filmmaker as well as an actor family. The two professions she chose to pursue were herself. Her debut short film was Prospettive. A documentary she made about her dad followed by Abel/Asia (1998) which was a movie which won an award at the Rome Film Festival, were the two films she directed from 1996 to 1998. Asia directed her debut feature film Scarlet Diva (2000). It was a collaborative effort between Asia as well as screenwriter/actress Linda McCartney. The film came out in May 2000 in Italy as well as the rest of the world. The film won awards at the Williamsburg Festival of Brooklyn, New York. Anna Lou, her first baby, was born in 2001. She directed a number of music videos. In 2002, she starred as Jean-Marc Barr's co-star The Red Siren (Olivier Megaton) and Vin Diesel was the star of Rob Cohen's thriller action The Action. Asia also wrote several short stories which were published in a variety of magazines.
